Buddy Ray Lester, 60, went to be with the Lord, Nov. 5, 1997.
Born in Boissevain, Va., he lived most of his life in Norfolk. He retired from the Navy after 22 1/2 years of service to his country. He was the son of the late Dolly and Henry Lester.
He had been employed by the Norfolk Sheriff's Department and Camellia Foods of Norfolk. He was currently employed by Stoneman's Detective Agency as a security officer.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Lester; one daughter, Tammy Whitelaw of San Antonio, Texas; seven sisters, Mary E. Williams of Hagerstown, Md., Nettie Poindexter of Norfolk, Audrey Fisher of Morrisville, Pa., Nancy Johnson of New Castle, Del., Bonnie Bolen of Roanoke, Va., Connie Poindexter of Abingdon, Va. and Sally Ann Hess of Abbs Valley, Va.; a brother, Jack Lester of Glen Burnie, Md.; and two grandchildren, Aaron and Rachel Zelinka of San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by a sister, Retha Cooper.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Glen Haven Cemetery, Glen Burnie. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
