CLARA S. ABBOTT

Clara Soux Abbott, 98, died Nov. 8, 1997. She was a resident of Maryview Nursing Care Center.

Mrs. Abbott was born in Princess Anne County, the daughter of the late Edward Jason and Addie Martha Soux. She was the widow of N. Lynn Abbott and was predeceased by her son, Norman L. Abbott Jr.

Mrs. Abbott was retired from the Portsmouth Water Department as chief clerk. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Eveleen Abbott Rolfe of Portsmouth; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Abbott Taylor and her husband, John, of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, William C. Rolfe and his wife, Janet, of Forest, Va., Mary Lynn Unten of Honolulu, Hawaii, Gregory L. Abbott and Christopher S. Abbott, both of Portsmouth; two great-grandchildren, Niven and Hunter Rolfe of Forest, Va.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Brian C. Hobden. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or St. John's Episcopal Church, 424 Washington St., Portsmouth, Va. 23704. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
