HAZEL H. ROUSE

Hazel Holmes Rouse, 80, died Nov. 7, 1997.

Born in Mecklenburg County, Va., she was the widow of retired Cmdr. William Edison Rouse, U.S. Navy. She was a longtime member of Baylake United Methodist Church where she participated in the Joy Sunday School class. She was a member of the Betty Fairbanks Circle and the Hermitage Garden Club of Thoroughgood, Virginia Beach. Mrs. Rouse was a graduate of Longwood College, Farmville, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Evelyn Holmes and John Peter Holmes.

Survivors include her sister, Evelyn Holmes Jones of Newport News; four nieces, Mary Helen Holmes Ripberger of Raleigh, N.C., Cathy Holmes Howerton of South Hill, Va., Rebecca Jones Davis of Newport News, and Gayle Jones Mapp of Williamsburg; and a nephew, H. Randolph Holmes of South Hill, Va. She also leaves behind many beloved friends including her longtime friends, Marge and George Lawrence.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Baylake United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ted E. David. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday in Baylake United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Baylake United Methodist Church Building Fund, Virginia Beach or Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, South Hill, Va. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
