IRENE H. WEST

Irene Grace HogHwood West, 88, a lifelong resident of Sussex County died Saturday, Nov. 8,1997, in Southside Regional Hospital, Petersburg.

She was the widow of F. Slade West and sister of the late Charles Leonard Hogwood Jr. She was daughter of the late Charles Leonard Sr. and Susan Bishop Hogwood. She was a 1927 graduate of Sussex High School. Mrs. West was a member of Newville Baptist Church and the Waverly Women's Club.

She is survived by daughters, Frances Seward Westbrook and her husband, V.W., of Waverly, Betty W. Buchert and her husband, Bob, of Virginia Beach; a sister, Elsie Cotten of Chesterfield; brother, Jesse Hogwood of Sussex; five grandchildren, Fred Seward and his wife, Jackie, Bob Seward and his wife, Dianne, Beverly Buchert, Beth Shutts and her husband, Don, Blake Buchert and his wife, Christen; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. David W. Kelley. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and at other times at the Seward Home, 12906 Jerusalem Plank Road, Homeville.
