MELVIN L. HARRIS

Melvin Leigh Harris of the 700 block of Potter Road died Nov. 8, 1997, in Hampton Veterans Hospital.

Born in Norfolk, he was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired as a merchant seaman after five years.

Survivors include his sister, Catherine H. Daniels of Chesapeake; a nephew, Charles Daniels Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; two nieces, Phyllis Ray of Texas and Gail Williams of Chesapeake; a brother-in-law, Charles M. Daniels of Chesapeake; and many other surviving relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Fitchett Funeral Home, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Calvin James. Burial will be in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Va. The family will be at 725 Potter Road, Chesapeake. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
