WILLIAM A. GARTHRIGHT JR.

William Amos Garthright Jr., 74, died Nov. 9, 1997.

Retired from the Virginia ABC Board, he was the widower of Vanda Jeanette Garthright. He was a native of Norfolk and a member of Court Street Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army combat veteran.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda G. Owen and her husband, Wayne, of Suffolk; two sisters, Cora Fern of Portsmouth and Helen Heavilon of Frankfort, Ind.; two granddaughters, Catherine Gray of Smithfield and Susan Owen of Portsmouth; and two great-grandsons, David Gray and Mitchell Gray of Smithfield.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. L. Wilbur Kersey in Olive Branch Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Virginia, 5349 E.
