William Amos Garthright Jr., 74, died Nov. 9, 1997.
Retired from the Virginia ABC Board, he was the widower of Vanda Jeanette Garthright. He was a native of Norfolk and a member of Court Street Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army combat veteran.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda G. Owen and her husband, Wayne, of Suffolk; two sisters, Cora Fern of Portsmouth and Helen Heavilon of Frankfort, Ind.; two granddaughters, Catherine Gray of Smithfield and Susan Owen of Portsmouth; and two great-grandsons, David Gray and Mitchell Gray of Smithfield.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. L. Wilbur Kersey in Olive Branch Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Virginia, 5349 E. Princess Anne Road, Norfolk, Va. 23502. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
