HOLIDAY BAKING can get expensive, but buying a few ingredients each week can make it easier on the budget.

This week Hannaford has 14-ounce cans of Meadow Gold condensed milk for 99 cents, 10- to 12-ounce bags of Nestle morsels for $1.99, 8-ounce boxes of Baker's chocolate for $1.99, and 11-ounce cartons of dates for $1.69.

Harris Teeter has 8-ounce bags of Diamond chopped walnuts for $2.29, 14-ounce bags of Angel Flake coconut for $1.39, 12-ounce bags of Bakers real chocolate chips for $1.49 and 15-ounce boxes of Sunmaid seedless raisins for $1.49.

Forty-eight-ounce bottles of Crisco oil are $1.49 at 3 Stores 1 Roof and Rack & Sack.

Food Lion has 16-ounce containers of sour cream for 99 cents, buy-one-get-one-free, and 30-ounce cans of Libby pumpkin pie mix for 99 cents.

These specials may help with the Thanksgiving shopping:

Harris Teeter has self-basting Harris Teeter hens or tom turkeys for 59 cents a pound, Butterball turkeys for 89 cents a pound, whole or half Hamilton spiral sliced ham for $2.49 a pound, and half or whole Hormel Cure 81 ham for $3.99 a pound.

Hannaford has semi-boneless half ham for $1.79 a pound.

Other meat specials this week include boneless chuck roast for $1.29 a pound and blade cut veal shoulder chops for $2.29 a pound at Be-Lo.

Assorted pork chops are $1.99 a pound at Food Lion.

Farm Fresh has Perdue whole fryers for 58 cents a pound.

Sirloin tip London broil is $1.88 a pound, Perdue chicken breast quarters are 99 cents a pound and boneless eye-round roast is $1.98 a pound at Farmer Jack.

Harris Teeter has Boston butt pork roast for 89 cents a pound, and boneless chicken breasts are $1.99 a pound at Hannaford.

Boneless full cut round steak is $1.38 and fresh pork shoulder picnics are 78 cents a pound at 3 Stores 1 Roof and Rack & Sack.

Pantry stockers include 2-liter bottles of Coke for 79 cents at Be-Lo.

Food Lion has 15-ounce cans of Hormel Chili for 99 cents.

A Kellogg's cereal sale offers more than 25 varieties for $1.98, and Folger's bagged coffee is $2.39, limit two, at 3 Stores 1 Roof and Rack & Sack.

Harris Teeter has 38- to 39-ounce cans of Hanover green beans for 88 cents and 40-ounce boxes of Bisquick for $1.49.

Two boxes of Kraft macaroni & cheese are $1 and two (6-ounce) cans of Bumble Bee chunk light tuna are $1 at Farmer Jack.

Farm Fresh has three cans of Green Giant vegetables for 99 cents.

In the produce section, seedless red grapes are 89 cents a pound, Ocean Spray cranberries are two (12-ounce) bags for $3 and spaghetti squash is 59 cents a pound at Harris Teeter.

Farm Fresh has 5-pound bags of red or white grapefruit for $1.28 and four green bell peppers for $1.

Jicama is 99 cents a pound and green onion bunches are 25 cents at Hannaford.

3 Stores 1 Roof and Rack & Sack have bananas, 4 pounds for 99 cents, 4-pound bags of Florida oranges for 99 cents and 3-pound bags of red or golden Delicious apples for 99 cents.
