Marvin Edward Barber, 69, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997.
Mr. Barber retired as an installer for Western Electric. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk and a member of Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Eure Barber; three daughters, Diane Cook of Manassas, Va., Denise Friedlin and Anne Austin, both of Chesapeake; two sons, William Kenneth Austin and Bentley Eure Austin, both of Concord, N.C.; a sister, Clara Parker of Miami, Fla.; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Barber.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Loving Funeral Home Chapel, Churchland, by the Rev. Dick Baker. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Sentara Hospice or to First Baptist Church of Norfolk.
