The Saints' winless season did not overshadow the job Tina Walker did at goalkeeper. Walker was the first N-SA player in two years to make first-team All-TCIS.
``She was our anchor. She's always up,'' Saints coach Elizabeth McCoy said. ``Even if the other team was giving us a hard time, she was always up. She's very professional.''
Walker stopped 211 of 245 shots on goal this season for the Saints (0-12).
``It was hard because I felt we could do better,'' Walker said. ``But we had fun, which was important.''
Walker will not have to wait until next fall to get back behind the cage.
This summer, she earned a spot on the Junior Olympic development program, which will help her enhance her skills during the off-season.
Lee Carey and Wendy Redmon were voted second team All-TCIS.

Jay Habel, perhaps as the school's all-time most-prolific scorer, has ended his career with another All-TCIS honor.
Habel earned first-team all-conference honors after leading the Saints (3-13-2) with 15 goals and three assists. It's the third straight season Habel has led the team in scoring. Habel scored 110 points in his final three seasons - believed to be a school record.
The final goal of Habel's career came in the team's 2-1 defeat to Hampton Roads Academy during the TCIS tournament quarterfinals. Hampton Roads was No. 7 in the nation at the time.
Next for Habel is college where he hopes to extend his soccer career.
``I believe I could play at some Division I schools but not all and I have only applied to Division I schools,'' Habel said.
Habel has applied to James Madison, Virginia Tech, Appalachian State, and Radford.
Richard Starkey was voted to the All-TCIS second team.
Girls basketball
In between scoring her 1,000th-career point and leading her team to the TCIS tournament championship, Allison Dunn earned her initial first-team All-TCIS honors this year.
Dunn averaged nearly 18 points along with five assists and four steals a game for the Saints (16-7). Brianne O'Berry, a junior, made the second team.
Boys volleyball
Hank Leber was the only Saint to receive all-TCIS recognition. He was voted to the second team.
Baseball
No matter how long it takes, David Putnam is intent on playing baseball at Florida State.
``I will end up going there,'' the senior catcher said. ``I'll find a way to get there.''
Putnam, one of the area's most highly-touted seniors, has been recruited by FSU but has not academically qualified. He is 90-100 points short on his SAT.
Putnam is getting tutored for the next test and has also considered junior colleges in Alabama and Florida as alternatives.
``I am just checking out all my different options,'' said Putnam, who hit

Junior Warren Carroll had reservations about playing football this year but was eventually persuaded in the summer to rejoin the team.
``A lot of friends talked me into playing,'' said Carroll, who was an All-TCIS football pick in 1996.
However, the tailback was left to second-guess himself when he sustained ligament damage in his left ankle and knee during last month's loss to Norfolk Academy. Carroll had surgery on his ankle and is not expected to join the basketball team until January.
``I always knew playing football was a risk,'' said Carroll, who was 21 yards short of reaching his second 1,000-yard rushing season.
The injury forced Carroll to sit on the sideline and watch helplessly as the Saints (5-5) ended the season with a two-game losing streak which included going scoreless in the team's final 10 quarters.
Now Carroll, who is walking around with a cast and brace, is forced to sit on the bench and watch his team prepare for the upcoming season. The two-time All-TCIS basketball guard led the team with 18.3 points a game last season.
In case anyone's wondering, Carroll does plan to play football next year. ILLUSTRATION: Photos
