Retired U.S. Navy Master Chief Robert S. Allen, 59, died Nov. 11, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.
Born in San Diego, he retired as a Navy master chief petty officer after 26 years service. He was also employed in civil service as a training officer for the Naval Aviation Supply. Mr. Allen graduated magma cum laude from Old Dominion University with a bachelor's degree in secondary education and also from Granby High School.
Survivors include his wife, Martha A. Allen; a daughter, Marsha Prow and her husband, Jeff, of Sunrise, Fla.; a son, Scott M. Allen of Virginia Beach; father, Edwin M. Tex Allen of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a grandson, Christopher Van Meter; and his mother-in-law, Mary M. Boman of Virginia Beach.
Services will be private. There will be a gathering at Harry's Bar and Grill, 9300 Chesapeake St., Norfolk, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
