John Wesley Brinkley Jr., 58, of the 2000 block of Holland Road died Nov. 12, 1997, in Obici Hospital.
A native of Nansemond County, Mr. Brinkley was a mechanic of Tidewater Occupational Center and a member of First Baptist Church. He was the son of the late John Wesley Brinkley Sr. and Winnie Belle Wilkins Brinkley.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Matthews Brinkley; daughters, Lisa B. Thompson, Nancy B. Carr, both of Suffolk; a son, John Gregory Brinkley of Suffolk; a brother, Shelton Rudolph Brinkley of Raleigh, N.C.; and granddaughters, Brooke and Ashley Thompson of Suffolk.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Cemetery by the Rev. James W. Draper. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Hill Funeral Home and at other times at the residence. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 360 S.
