James A. ``Buddy'' Davidson, 84, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted family man and will be greatlymissed by his family and friends.
He was a member of Norview United Methodist Church. He was a Purple Heart veteran of World War II, having served in Italy. He was devoted to helping crippled children and serving as a member of the Transport Corps for Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. Other memberships include Norview Lodge 113 A.F.&A.M., Norfolk Scottish Rites Bodies, Khedive Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. He was the past director of the ``Hillbillies Unit'' of Khedive Temple and became an honorary member.
He is survived by his wife, Alice (Sherman) Davidson; daughters, Carolyn Zanin and Betty O'Neal of Virginia Beach; a loving stepson, William W. Taylor of Virginia Beach; a sister, Dorothy Jennings of Norfolk; a brother, Walter J. Davidson of Virginia Beach. He was predeceased by two sisters, Hortense Dickerson and Elizabeth (Dee Dee) Dixon of Norfolk. He leaves five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. John Shappell of Norview United Methodist Church and Chaplain Kenneth (Toby) Askew of the Khedive Temple. Masonic Rites will be accorded at the graveside. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today and other times at 1413 Bradford Road, Lakeview Shores, Virginia Beach.
