Hunter Ketron Evans, 70, of the 400 block of Gloucester Ave., died Nov. 12, 1997, in a local hospital.
A native of McDowell County, W.Va., he was a special police officer at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and retired from the U.S. Navy. He was the widower of Betty Jo Evans.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Gail White of Windsor, N.C.; a son, Bradley E. Evans Sr. of Portsmouth; two brothers, Garfield Evans of Joplin, Mo., and Charles D. Evans of St. Augustine, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
