Police obtained eight additional charges Thursday against Willie Augusta Ricks Jr., who is accused in the abduction and fatal shooting of a Deep Creek man earlier this month.
Ricks of Fayetteville, N.C., was charged previously with murder and abduction in the Nov. 5 shooting death of Dwight Steinruck Jr.
Ricks, 26, now has been charged with robbery, burglary, a second count of abduction and five firearms charges, according to Dave Hughes, a spokesman for Chesapeake police. He was being held without bond in the Chesapeake Jail on Thursday. Police continue to search for a second suspect.
The crimes started when two men with a gun entered Steinruck's home and robbed him of money and a gold chain. Steinruck's mother, Nancy Speicher, was ordered into a back bedroom. At least one of the men then forced Steinruck into his car, apparently in an effort to drive him to an ATM to make him withdraw money.
Steinruck was shot as he tried to jump out of the driver's seat to safety. He was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. KEYWORDS: ARREST SHOOTING ABDUCTION
