MARY M. NEAL

Mary Mason Neal, 93, passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Roanoke, a former member and dedicated church worker of Second Presbyterian Church, Roanoke. Mrs. Neal was also a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Norfolk, where she had been active. She was a member and former vice regent of the Margaret Lynn Lewis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Neal was a 1927 graduate of Hollins College and an active member and past president of the Alleghany Garden Club, Roanoke. She was the widow of James Young Neal (who was a retired electrical engineer at Norfolk and Western Railway in Roanoke). Mrs. Neal also was preceded in death by a son, James Young Neal Jr. and a daughter, Mary Jim Neal Dyer.

Survivors include a son, John Young Neal of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Frances Mason Neal Putt of Richmond; four grandchildren, Dr. Robert Kent Dyer and wife, Nancy, of Edmond, Okla., Mary Justin Dyer Mohler and husband, Dr. Forrest, of Hendersonville, N.C., Elizabeth Mason Neal, John Young Neal Jr., both of Virginia Beach; two great-grandchildren, Kathryn Elizabeth Dyer of Edmond, Robert Forrest Mohler of Hendersonville, N.C.; a son-in-law, Dr. Robert K. Dyer of Hendersonville.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Spring Hill Cemetery, Lynchburg, by the Rev. Robert D. Smith. The family suggests that memorials be made to a favorite charity. Friends may call at Oakey's Funeral Service, Roanoke Chapel. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
