Forrest ``Shorty'' Elwood Long, 69, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997.
A native of Farmville, Va., he was a Realtor for Forrest E. Long Realty; president and lifetime member of the Jaycees; national chairman, state vice president, and president of the Portsmouth Board of Realtors and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is the widower of Betty Jean Copeland Long. Survivors include two daughters, Diane C. Long of Roanoke, Denise L. Felton and her husband, David; son, David E. Long and his wife, Linda; sister, Florence L. Price; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Crumpler and her husband, Nelson, Dorothy Doughtie and her husband, C.M. ``Pete''; two grandchildren, Jayson and his wife, Holly Roten, Amy M. Long; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Roten.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Neal Sasser and the Rev. Bonnie Doughtie. The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today in Loving Funeral Home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
