JOSEPH TOWE JR.

Joseph Towe Jr., of the 600 block of Milby Ave., died Nov. 12, 1997.

Born in Plymouth, N.C., he was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and also retired from Norfolk Air Station after 16 years. Mr. Towe graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and Jones College.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Boyd of Portsmouth and Debra Towe of Chesapeake; his mother, Josephine Towe of Chesapeake; two sisters, Louise Lynnch of Fayetteville, N.C., and Barbara Sims of Williamsburg; five brothers, Alustus Towe, Jimmie Towe and Lawrence Towe, all of Chesapeake, the Rev. Jerry Towe of Virginia Beach, and Missionary Victor V. Towe Sr. of Chesapeake; three grandchildren; an uncle, Artemus Towe of Plymouth, N.C.; four aunts, Sallie Wynn and Helen Williams, both of Norfolk, Shirley Taylor and Myrtle Williams, both of Plymouth; a son-in-law, Jamie Boyd of Portsmouth; and a host of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Towe Sr.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, Norfolk, by the Rev. Harold Cason. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Quantico National Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 914 Greer St., Chesapeake, at noon Monday for the procession to the chapel.
