LILLIAN S. PATE

Lillian Rae Sykes ``Cookie'' Pate, 50, formerly of Chesapeake, and of the 7000 block of Maracay Court, Fayetteville, N.C., died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997, in Chesapeake.

Born in Portlock, Va., she was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, a volunteer in the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet of her church.

Survivors include her husband, Preston H. Pate Jr., U.S. Air Force retired, of Fayetteville; a daughter, Laura Ann Pate of Fayetteville; a son, Howard Neil Pate and his wife, Mary, of Tallahassee, Fla.; father, Nathan Sykes Sr. of Chesapeake; a sister, Jerusha S. Koon of Hollywood, Md.; a brother, Howard R. Sykes of Virginia Beach. She was predeceased by her mother, Lillian Tarkenton Sykes, and a brother, Nathan Sykes Jr.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Henry Napier. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. The family will be at the funeral home from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday and at 4109 Bernard St., Chesapeake. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
