Pier fishing was good on the lower end of Hatteras Island Friday.
Anglers on Frisco Pier caught some nice sea mullet, tailor bluefish, speckled trout, small puppy drum and a 2 1/2-pound flounder.
A 60-pound drum and five stripers were caught from Avon Pier Thursday night. Small bluefish were landed Friday.
Scattered small bluefish were caught throughout the day on Rodanthe Pier.
North of Oregon Inlet, Outer Banks Pier reported slow fishing with only a few small bluefish taken.
Anglers on Jennette's Pier caught seven stripers weighing from 10 to 15 pounds during the day.
A few bluefish were decked on Nags Head Pier.
Four stripers measuring 30 to 34 inches, two keeper puppy drum and sea mullet weighing as much as 1 pound, 10 ounces, were taken by Avalon Pier fishermen.
Several 28- to 29-inch striped bass were decked on Kitty Hawk Pier.
Scattered stripers and small bluefish were landed along the beach from Corolla to Oregon Inlet.
A few tailor blues were beached by surfcasters from Oregon Inlet to Buxton.
A few stripers were taken at Cape Point during the morning, and sea mullet and bluefish were landed in the afternoon.
Fishing was slow along the beach from Ramp 55 to Oregon Inlet.
Some nice striped bass were landed by anglers trolling around the Oregon Inlet bar. A few charters went to the Gulf Stream off Oregon Inlet and returned with excellent catches of tuna and one wahoo.
No offshore action was reported from the Hatteras area.
The water temperature was 57 degrees Friday at the Army Corps of Engineers Pier in Duck, and 63 degrees at the Frisco Pier on Hatteras Island.
