DELLA WRIGHT

Della Wright, 88, of the 800 block of E. 28th St., departed this life Nov. 14, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

A native of Norfolk, she was the widow of the late William ``Bill'' Wright and the daughter of the late Lennie and Mary Washington Sr. She had retired from Dixie Manufacturing Company in 1973 after more than 45 years of service. Mrs. Wright was an active member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess, a member of the Senior Choir for more than 50 years, an active senior Missionary Society member and a member of the Matrons Guild. Mrs. Wright, because of her dedicated service to the church, was the ``1986 Woman of the Year'' at Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Mary E. Watkins of Norfolk; four nephews, Harrell E. Watkins Sr. of Chesapeake, Raymond Watkins and Wesley L. Watkins of Norfolk and Roland Watkins of Arlington, Va.; and a great-nephew, Harrell E. Watkins Jr. of Woodbridge, Va.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Jerusalem Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Thomas M. Venable. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Hale Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
