Rodger D. Buchtel, 72, died Nov. 16, 1997, in Portsmouth.
Born in Rock Springs, Wyo., he was retired as a chief electronics technician from the U.S. Navy and also retired as an equipment specialist from civil service.
Survivors include his wife, Jean M. Buchtel; two daughters, Roxanne Buchtel of Elkin, N.C., and Lisa Sala, and her husband, Westley, of Norfolk; a son, Bryan Buchtel, and his wife, Jeanne, of Norfolk; three sisters, Pauline Buchtel, Georgie Bodnar and Beverly Young; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by Fr. Bill Dale. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
