JOSEPH E. HOLT SR.

Joseph E. Holt Sr., 85, of the 5000 block of Young St. died Nov. 17, 1997, in his residence.

Born in Norfolk, he retired as chief clerk from Norfolk-Southern Railroad. He was a member of Bayside Presbyterian Church, a Past Worshipful Master of Bayside Masonic Lodge No. 218, Ritualistic Divan of the Khedive Temple, and a member of Knights of Templar, Scottish Rite Bodies. He was the son of the late Herbert A. and Martha O. Holt.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice L. Holt; three daughters, Joselyn Pierce and her husband, Ben, of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Martha Jane Holt of Norfolk, and Denise H. Stratton of Virginia Beach; a son, Joseph E. Holt Jr. and his wife, Kathleen, of Virginia Beach; a brother, Thomas C. Holt of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Will Kiser-Lowrance. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic Rites will be accorded at the graveside. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
