CARL J. MANN

Carl Junior Mann, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997, at his home.

He was a native of Manns Harbor and retired as a sergeant major of the U.S. Army, having served 27 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served there in 1967 and 1968. He retired in 1970 and had resided in Manns Harbor since that time. He was a member of Mount Carmel Methodist Church, Manns Harbor, and Manteo Masonic Lodge No. 521. He was the son of the late Carl Delton Mann and the late Blanche Midgett Mann.

Survivors include Helen Carroll Mann of Kansas City, the mother of his children; a son, Carl Stanley Mann and a daughter, Judith Mann Johnson, both of Manns Harbor; a stepdaughter, Carol Ann Norton of Tennessee; two brothers, Earl Mann and Billie Mann, both of Manns Harbor; a paternal uncle, Joseph Caroon Mann; four grandchildren, Tracy and Aaron Mann of Manns Harbor, both of whom are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Services, Carla Johnson Nolan of Raleigh, Raye Lynn Johnson Tubbs of Manns Harbor; three great-grandchildren, Skylar Ashton Nolan of Raleigh, Magen Moore and Jabe Tubbs of Manns Harbor. He was preceded in death by a sister, Iva Mae Mann.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Mount Carmel Methodist Church by the Rev. James Tosto. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
