ALBERTA C. BURNHAM

Alberta C. Burnham, 61, of the 4100 block of Birch Court died Nov. 17, 1997, in her home.

Born in Virginia Beach, she had retired in 1996 as a custodian for the City of Virginia Beach School System with eight years of service. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where she was treasurer of the usher board for 17 years and a member of Mount Nebo Tent. She was a former member of the executive board of directors of the Southeastern Tidewater Opportunity Projects Inc. (S.T.O.P.) Mrs. Burnham was predeceased by her parents, Rosabell Williams Fentress and Richard Albert Williams.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosa Pearl Jones, Gloria H. Burnham; three sons, Bernard J. Burnham Sr., Richard D. Burnham, Chris L. Burnham; five sisters, Ruth Riddick of Allentown, Pa., Shirley Conley, Audrey Cornick, Jeanette Lassiter, and Annette Cooper of Virginia Beach; three brothers, William J. Williams, Charles A. Williams, Reuben V. Williams of Virginia Beach; 12 grandchildren; a goddaughter, Tina Lawrence; four aunts and one uncle.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Piney Grove Baptist Church, 2804 Holland Road, Virginia Beach, by Dr. Charles A. Vinson. Interment will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. P.G. Thomasson Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. The body will be placed in church at noon the day of the service.
