James Elwood Redd, 97, of Melrose Parkway died Nov. 18, 1997, in a local hospital.
Born in Middlesex County, Va., he was retired as a car foreman from Norfolk & Western Railroad. He was the widower of Pernell A. Redd.
Survivors include his son, James Earl Redd and his wife, Mary, of Norfolk; a sister in Maryland; four grandchildren, Leigh, James Jr., Christopher and Stephen; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
