An 11-year-old girl whose coat was taken was among the victims of four robberies Tuesday in areas near downtown.
Police gave these accounts:
The girl was robbed at knifepoint as she walked home after getting off a school bus at the corner of Halifax Street and Bank Street Extended in the Lloyd Place neighborhood.
A man threatened to cut her throat and took her pink, hooded coat.
He was described as black, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 120 pounds, with a 1 1/2-inch scar resembling a snake on his right cheek. He was wearing baggy, white pants.
China Village in the 300 block of E. Washington St. was robbed about 8:55 p.m.
A man, wearing a stocking mask and indicating he had a gun, demanded money from the cash register. He was described as black, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, between 130 and 140 pounds, and wearing dark clothes and a cap.
A woman was robbed in the parking lot outside the BeLo grocery store in the 500 block of E. Constance Road about 9:15 p.m.
Two black males pushed her down and snatched her purse, which contained a wallet, credit cards and her checkbook.
One suspect was described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and 130 pounds; the other as 5 feet 6 inches tall and 150 pounds.
A Domino's Pizza driver was robbed about 9:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Duke St.
A man with a handgun approached him outside a residence and took money, a pizza and a soft drink. The suspect was described as black, 17 or 18, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 140 pounds, with a light complexion and a mustache.
