William Douglas Glover Jr., 30, of Roaming Rock Blvd. died the morning of Nov. 18, 1997, at Cleveland Metro Health Center, Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Glover wasshot Nov. 17 while performing his duty as police officer for the Ashtabula Police Department
Mr. Glover and his family moved to the Ashtabula, Ohio, area three years ago from Chesapeake. He was a deputy sheriff in Chesapeake, a police officer for the N. Kingsville Police Department and chief of police of the Roaming Shores Police Department before moving to the Ashtabula Police Department as an officer. Mr. Glover received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy as an HN hospital corpsman.
He was active as a Little League coach in Chespeake and was also involved in various local community projects designed for the betterment of children in Ashtabula County. He developed the Roaming Shores Police Department from a 1-person department to a staff of three full-time and three part-time personnel. He sat on the Ashtabula Narcotics Task Board. He was a certified scuba diver and enjoyed spending time with his family and three children. He belonged to the FOP Lodge 26 and was a former member of the FOP in Chesapeake. He graduated from A.T. Mahan High School in Keflavik, Iceland. He was born Sept. 3, 1967 in Sanford, Fla., to William Douglas Glover Sr. and Kay (Hovi) Glover, both of Chesapeake. He married Marianne Elizabeth Pasquarelli on Jan. 19, 1989, in Chesapeake.
Survivors also include his three children, Philip Alan, 10, Sean William, 6, and Amanda Kay, 5; brother, Staff Sgt. Travis Wayne Glover and sister-in-law, Carrie, of Ellsworth Airforce Base, South Dakota; and nieces, Kirstie and Carly.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bethany Lutheran Church, 933 Michigan Ave., Ashtabula, by the Rev. William M. Bruehl of Bethany Lutheran Church, Ashtabula. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Burton Funeral Home, Greenlawn Chapel, Kingsville, Ohio. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
