NORFOLK POLICE SEEK MAN WHO ROBBED FIRST VIRGINIA BANK

Police have released a composite sketch of a bank robber who fired a gunshot over people's heads just before fleeing on a bike with a backpack of stolen money.

The robbery occurred about 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Virginia Bank branch in the 1000 block of Fishermans Road.

The robber entered the bank armed with a revolver and tossed a green backpack with black straps onto a counter and demanded money. After a teller complied, the man fired a gunshot into the lobby ceiling and fled.

He was last seen riding away on a green mountain bike.

The suspect is described as white, in his late teens or early 20s, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and 145 pounds. He was wearing a teal Miami Dolphins pull-over jacket with a hood and light-colored pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Line at 664-4040. ILLUSTRATION: Composite sketch of the robber. KEYWORDS: ROBBERY
