HUBERT E. BATTEN

Dr. Hubert Elmore Batten, 72, of 2121 Raeford Road died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

He was a practicing physician of radiology in Fayetteville for 34 years and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Helen E. Batten of the home; a son, Dr. Jerry L. Batten of Balsam, N.C.; a daughter, Dr. Jan Batten McGirt of Wilmington, N.C.; a brother, Armin R. Batten of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and two granddaughters.

A funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Sam Batten and the Rev. William Sleasman. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. before the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth.
