Jesse Newton Criss, 76, died Nov. 19, 1997, in Portsmouth.
Born in Illinois, he had retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service and was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He had also retired as a heating and air conditioning technician from Mechanical Service, Virginia Beach.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth O. Criss; two daughters, Paula Jean Criss Gimmler and Jackie Frank, both of Texas; a son, David W. Criss of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Edna Richey, Alice Flynn, Emma Denney and Sarah Denney, all of Illinois; two brothers, Harry Criss of Florida and Charles Criss of Illinois; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Colonial Grove Memorial Park by Chaplain James Pipkins. The family will receive friends in their home and also may call today at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
