Calvin Wade Kirby, 70, of the 100 block of Brantwood Dr. died Friday Nov. 21, 1997, at Albemarle Hospital. He was a native of Pasquotank County, N.C., and the son of the late Grant Addison and Lina Salter Kirby. He was a member of First Christian Church, Improved Order of Red Men, Tribe No. 8, a former member of the Pasquotank Ruritan Club, and a former member and vice chairman of the Pasquotank County Planning Board. Mr. Kirby was a retired banker with Farmer's Bank of Sunbury and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include two sisters, Zelma K. Gerhard of Langhorne, Penn. and Clarine K. Barton of Chesapeake; a brother, Marion M.R. Kirby of Elizabeth City; an aunt, Mary K. Rodgerson of Elizabeth City, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Jerry Burton. The family will receive friends and relatives at Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Church St., from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, and at other times at 113 Brantwood Drive.
