EMMA A. YATES

Emma Agnes Yates, 81, of the 400 block of Beacon Hill Circle, died Nov. 21, 1997, in her residence.

Mrs. Yates retired in 1967 after 18 years with the Norfolk City School System. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was a native of Harrellsville, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Yates.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Charlie L. Yates of Blacksburg, Va., Thomas B. Yates and his wife, Edna of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Bernice Y. Hill and her husband, Nathaniel of Norfolk, Myrtle D. Yates of Virginia Beach; a sister, Sadie I. Sharp of Norfolk; a brother, the Rev. Dr. James B. Sharp and his wife, Goldie of Chesapeake; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; three nephews; three nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah's Witnesses, 959 Ingleside Road, Norfolk, by Willie Joyner. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach.
