B.F. DANIELS

The Rev. Dr. B.F. Daniels, of 3911 Tony Drive, passed away Wednesday night, Nov. 19, 1997, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Weldon, N.C., and the son of the late Walter P. and Corinthian Daniels Mack. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, where he was senior pastor. His academic accomplishments include the completion of high school at Booker T. Washington High School, and earning a B.A. degree in History from Norfolk State University. Dr. Daniels earned a B.D. degree from Shaw University and a master of divinity degree from Shaw University, Raleigh, N.C. He began his doctorate at St. Mary's Seminary University in Baltimore, Md., and completed a doctorate of Minister degree from Trinity Theological Seminary and University in Newburg, Ind. His denomination affiliations include the National Baptist Convention, USA Inc.; General Baptist State Convention, Baptist State Convention, Lott Carey Foreign Missionary Convention; treasurer of Rowan Baptist Association; program chairman of Baptist Ministers' Conference of Winston-Salem; volunteer chaplain of Forsyth Memorial Hospital; past president of the Forsyth County Baptist Training Union; member of Pilot Mountain Baptist Association; former executive board member of Forsyth Prison Unit, Winston-Salem; member of the Finance Committee of National Baptist Convention. His civic and fraternal organizations include Board of Friends of the Shaw Divinity School, Acacia Lodge, John G. Lewis Consistory No. 326, charter member of the Al Khattab Temple No. 201 P.H.A. of Lexington, N.C., charter member of the Eta Beta Beta of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Lexington, N.C., and a member of the NAACP.

His experiences include: dormitory counselor of Shaw University; Dean of Men, Shaw University; director of Baptist Fellowship Center; past co-director of the Summer Lunch Program, Davidson County; instructor, Seminaries Extension, Dept. of Seminaries of the Southern Baptist Convention; former pastor of First Baptist Church, Lexington. His travels include North and South America, Europe, Africa, the Holy Lands and Islands of West Indies.

His awards include: Distinguished Service Award, Shaw Divinity School, 1986; The Marquis Who's Who in Religion, Third Edition; Outstanding Service Award as president of Lexington, N.C.- Ministerial Fellowship, 1973; Commendation in the Dictionary of International Biography for Distinguished Achievement Volume 20; Distinguished Leadership Award, First Edition for Outstanding Christian Leadership; Distinguished Service Award of the Field of Religion by the International Book of Honor, Second World Edition; and Who's Who of North Carolina, 1976.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bronnie H. Daniels of the home; his mother, Mrs. Corinthian Daniels Mack of Norfolk; a sister, the Rev. Mrs. F.D. Finney of Norfolk; a niece, Ava Hurdle of Virginia Beach; two uncles, Dr. B.F. Richards of New York City, Frank Richards of Norfolk; two brothers-in-law, Thomas F. Harris of Winston-Salem, Walter M. Finney of Norfolk; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Richards of Weldon, N.C., Bonnie Mack of Chesapeake; three godchildren, Eleanor Jackson, the Rev. Robert Anderson, both of Winston-Salem, Ruby Gainer of Norfolk; several other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in Union Baptist Church by the Rev. F.O. Bass Jr., moderator of the Rowan Baptist Association, and Eulogy by Dr. J.C. Harris, executive secretary of Rowan Baptist Association. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Union Baptist Church, and at other times at the residence. Gilmore Funeral Directors is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
