Mary Elizabeth Uphold, 74, of the 100 block of North Academy St. died Nov. 22, 1997, at home.
Born in Northampton County, N.C., she was a homemaker and a member of Colerain Baptist Church.
Mrs. Uphold is survived by her husband, Theodore Ray ``T.R.'' Uphold; two daughters, Linda Sue Uphold of Norfolk, Victoria Warner of Chesapeake; a son, Terry W. Uphold of Portsmouth; a sister, Blanche Blake of Chesapeake; a brother, Jesse Holloman of Neptune, N.J.; grandchildren, Derek Scott Uphold of Chesapeake and Sara Elizabeth Uphold of Portsmouth.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday in Hillcrest Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Kelley. The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, N.C., from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Roanoke Chowan Hospice, P.O. Box 272 Ahoskie, N.C. 27910.
