CHARLES T. WOODARD

Charles Thomas Woodard, died Nov. 24, 1997, in Norfolk.

Mr. Woodard was a native of Northampton County, N.C., and was son of the late Roy Thomas and Mary Johnson Woodard. He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Navy in England and France.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Norfolk. He was a 34- year member of the Norfolk Rotary Club. On Nov. 18, he was honored with Rotary's ``Paul Harris Award'' for scholarship and foundation support. His wife Frances received the award on his behalf. He was co-owner of Sea Scape Golf Links, Kitty Hawk, N.C. His previous business was in wholesale refrigeration and air conditioning. In addition to his wife of 52 years, Frances Davis, Charles is survived by a sister, Marion Woodard; one nephew and four nieces.

A graveside service will be at Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins, Va., on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Dr. James Cobb. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, an hour prior to the service on Wednesday. A memorial service will follow on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 1301 Colley Ave., Norfolk. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church Norfolk or Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, 601 Childrens Lane, Norfolk. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
