John Wesley Hasty, 78, of the 200 block of Cypress Road died Nov. 24, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.
A native of Southampton County, Va., he was a retired welder at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 26. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Illene Hasty; a daughter, Pamela Williams, and her husband, Edward, of Portsmouth; two sons, Jack Hasty, and his wife, Catherine, of Portsmouth and Alan Hasty, and his wife, Gloria, of Ukiah, Calif.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Harry Spears. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
