Retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Alfredo M. Cortezano, 72, of the 5800 block of Bradley Ave., died Nov. 21, 1997, in a local hospital.
Born in the Philippines, he was the widow of Noemi B. Cortezano and a permanent deacon of the Immaculate Conception Chapel, NAS Norfolk. He retired from the Navy after 30 years of service and was a veteran of Vietnam and Korea. Mr. Cortezano was a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 367, Norfolk, Fleet Reserve Association Branch No. 60, Norfolk, and the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his daughter, May A. Panganiban of Springfield, Va.; two sisters, Ida of the Philippines, Olivia Keefe of Arizona; three brothers, Honesto Cortezano, Salvador Cortezano, both of the Philippines; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception, NAS Norfolk, by Fr. Joe Carlos. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a wake and Knights of Columbus service to be held at 7 p.m. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
