LUCY W. TURNER

Mrs. Lucy W. Turner of 2500 Piedmont Ave. went to be with the Lord Nov. 23, 1997, at Portsmouth General Hospital after an extended illness.

She was the widow of the late Nathaniel D. Turner Jr. She taught in the Portsmouth Public School system for more than 30 years. She was baptized at Zion Baptist Church and later joined the daughter church known as First Baptist Church, Elm Avenue.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Mrs. Amelia W. Hart of Portsmouth, Mrs. Martha Morgan of Chesapeake; three brothers, Mr. Cephas C. Wright, Mr. Eugene Wright, Mr. Joseph Wright, all of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Fayette and Ariel; a host of nieces and nephews; three brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; a host of cousins and relatives; and three special friends, Mrs. Freda Boone, Mrs. Ethel Pittman and Ms. Vanzola Roots.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Elm Avenue, by the Rev. Gregory A. Thomas. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Corprew Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family will receive friends and relatives at the residence, 2500 Piedmont Ave. The funeral procession will leave from her residence.
