Nancy R. Magee died Wednesday Nov. 26, 1997, in Portsmouth, following an arduous but courageous two-year battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, U.S. Coast Guard Capt. Gregory H. Magee; her son, U.S.C.G. Lt.j.g. Gregory H. Magee Jr. of Hampton; three sisters, Sarah Riplog of Charleston, S.C., Cecilia Thrower of Summerville, S.C., and Mary Riplog of Santa Monica, Calif.; and her father, the Rev. Duane Riplog of Summerville. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel S. Riplog.
She began her life in a Navy family and spent her entire married life as a member of the Coast Guard family. Her life's work was helping others cope with the rigors of service life. With grace, compassion and friendship, she assisted members of the Coast Guard family from Seattle to San Juan, from California to Connecticut. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday in Amory Funeral Home, Grafton. A funeral Mass will be held at Olde Yorke Chapel, Coast Guard Reserve Training Center, Yorktown at 10 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Duane Riplog and U.S. Navy Cmdr. Leon Guarnieri, CHC. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
