WALLACE T. GRAY SR.

Wallace Thomas Gray Sr., 80, of the 300 block of N. West St. died Nov. 24, 1997, in Guardian Care Nursing Home.

Mr. Gray was born in Pitt County and was a member of Ahoskie First Baptist Church. He was retired as manager of North State Provision Co. in Ahoskie. He was a 32nd-degree Mason, a member and past Grand Master of the Davie Masonic Lodge No. 39 AF & AM, and a member of the Enfield Masonic Lodge and the New Bern Shriners Sudan Temple. Mr. Gray was a former chairman of the Hertford County Board of Education, a past president of the Ahoskie Kiwanis Club and a past president of the N.C. Wholesalers Association. He served in the Merchant Marines.

Mr. Gray is survived by his wife, Virginia Parker Gray; a daughter, Linda Gray Perry and her husband, Horace Randolph Perry Jr., of Laurel, Md.; and a son, Wallace T. (Tom) Gray Jr. and his wife, Barbara Brookshire Gray of Ridgefield, Conn.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Boyd Brookshire and the Rev. Dr. Jesse J. Croom. Burial will be in Ahoskie Cemetery with Masonic rites. Memorial donations may be made to the Duke Alzheimer's Family Support Program, Box 3600, Duke Medical Center, Durham, N.C. 27710. The family will receive friends at the home.
