WOODROW W. VERNON

Woodrow Wilson ``Woody'' Vernon, 82, of the 100 block of E. Tyler Crescent, died Wednesday Nov. 26, 1997, in his home.

Mr. Vernon, a native of Portsmouth, was retired manager of Giant Open Air Market. He was a member of West Parkview Baptist Church and a charter member of Tidal Wave Masonic Lodge 273.

Survivors include his wife, Phyliss Virginia Vernon; a daughter, Joyce Ann Peele of Worthington, Ohio; a son, Robert Preston Vernon of Chesapeake; two sisters, Ruth Foster of Wildwood, Fla., Glen Cross of Panama City, Fla.; a brother, Preston Vernon of Norfolk; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Thomas W. Wood. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Westhaven Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 4900 Caroline Ave., Portsmouth, Va. 23707. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
