VIRGINIA

CREEKMORE TO BECOME BANK PRESIDENT: Oliver D. ``Ollie'' Creekmore, executive vice president and cashier of Bank of Isle of Wight, was elected president and chief executive officer of the bank effective Jan. 1. He will also become a member of the board of directors. Robert E. Spencer Jr., president and CEO of the bank, will be promoted to senior vice president of James River Bankshares, the community bank holding company which owns Bank of Isle of Wight, Bank of Suffolk, James River Bank and First Colonial Bank.

CHAIRMAN OF SHORE BANK: The board of Shore Bank in Onley elected Henry P. Custis Jr. as chairman. Custis, a partner in the law firm Custis Lewis and Dix, has been on the bank's board since 1986.

CHESAPEAKE

ARMADA/HOFFLER RECOGNIZED: Armada/Hoffler Construction Co. was awarded First Honor in Excellence in Development Design by The Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate.

The firm was recognized for the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel and Convention Center which the construction company completed in 1991.

HANSEN NAMED DIRECTOR OF FAMILY SERVICES: Dawn Hansen was named the director of family services at Nannies & More Inc.

She has been employed as a professional nanny and worked with a nanny agency in Boston as a placement specialist.

SUFFOLK

DIVIDEND INCREASE FOR SHARES OF BANKING COMPANY: James River Bankshares Inc., the Suffolk-based parent of Bank of Suffolk, Bank of Isle of Wight and other community banks, declared a fourth-quarter dividend of 10 cents a share, a 7.15 percent increase from its dividend for the third quarter. The new dividend will be payable Dec. 22 to shareholders of record Dec. 10.

VIRGINIA BEACH

NEW TICKER SYMBOL: Approved Financial Corp., a consumer finance company that specializes in home-equity loans, changed the trading symbol for its stock to APFN from AILY. The Virginia Beach-based company changed its name in mid-1996 from American Industrial Loan Association. Its shares trade on the OTC Bulletin Board.
