ETD_db This is the ETD database software developed at Virginia Tech, which we make freely available to members of the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD). ETD-db provides a workflow that enables ETD submission, approval, and access through a series of Web pages and perl scripts that interact with a MySQL database. This link also provides information about hardware requirements as well as instructions for downloading and installing the ETD-db software.
ETD-MS Here are guidelines for the metadata elements that describe an electronic thesis or dissertation. These metadata can help institutions define cross-walk between local metadata and a single standard used for sharing information about ETDs.
The ETD-MS elements can be encoded in a variety of standard formats, including MARC and XML. NDLTD members who function as OAI data providers can export both XML-encoded ETD-MS and OAI-standard XML-encoded MARC data, irrespective of how they store their ETDs data locally. In particular, sites that use ETD-db are able to export both formats automatically.
