Arline to speak on food quality

"Building a Century of Kisses" will be the topic when the director of quality and regulatory compliance for Hershey Foods speaks next Friday, Oct. 3 as part of the university's 125th Anniversary Outstanding Alumni Speakers series.

Marcella Arline, a 1974 graduate of the Department of Food Science and Technology, will speak at 4 p.m. in Litton Reaves auditorium.

Arline heads the organization within Hershey Foods with world-wide responsibility to set and maintain quality, environmental and regulatory standards. She has worked in quality-assurance positions since her graduation, including positions in a number of Hershey companies.

Arline will meet with students in a food-product-development class and in a class on marketing of agricultural products before her alumni address. She will also be the keynote speaker at the College of Agriculture and Life Science's annual scholarship banquet that evening.

She is a member of the Virginia Tech Ag Leadership Council, and the board of directors of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association. She is also a member of the Virginia Tech Ag Alumni Organization, and she is secretary/treasurer of the National Agriculture Alumni and Development Association.
