The Academy of Public Service Excellence is seeking nominations for the Public Service Excellence Award for 1998. The purpose of this award is to recognize university employees for outstanding public-service accomplishments to the university community and the state.
Up to four people are selected annually to receive this award and an honorarium at the university's Founder's Day ceremony in April. Award winners are automatically inducted into the Academy of Public Service Excellence.
Nominees will be evaluated on program results, innovation, creativity, subject matter, expertise, communication skills, and professional activities in Continuing Education, Virginia Cooperative Extension, international research and development, public-service programs, and other outreach activities. Particular emphasis will be placed on those activities that go beyond the normal expectations of the nominee's position within the university.
Nomination deadline in Dec. 12, 1997. Nomination packets should be submitted to Kathy Lewis, Office of the University Provost, mail code 0132.
