QBARS - v21n3 Our Front Cover
Our Front Cover
We are indebted for our front cover picture to Dr. Herbert Hechenbleikner, Head of the Department of Biology of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The rhododendron is a specimen of R. catawbiense , located at Craggy Gardens in North Carolina. Plants of this species cover several small mountains, sometimes called "Balds", presumably because of lack of trees, near the Blue Ridge Highway. Unfortunately the Annual Meeting was a little early for this species so the visiting members enjoyed the native azaleas instead.
