QBARS - v22n2 Tualatin Valley Chapter Display Garden
Tualatin Valley Chapter Display Garden
"The Tualatin Valley Chapter of The American Rhododendron Society has undertaken a project consisting of a rhododendron display garden on the campus of Pacific University at Forest Grove, Ore. The long range planning hopefully includes a species garden arranged according to Series and a planting consisting of new American hybrids. To our knowledge there is no existing garden with these features on the west coast. This will be an excellent place to hold Chapter shows. We in the Chapter all agree that this will be a healthy project for the growth of the Chapter and a fine way to educate the public to rhododendrons since the Tualatin Valley Highway borders the south side of the campus. Other features will follow as plans develop and time passes."
The above is from a letter sent to rhododendron enthusiasts requesting their cooperation. Donations of plants or offers at special prices are hoped for as the Chapter is a small one. Co-chairmen of the project are Esther Wolfe, Hillsboro, Ore. and Dr. Forrest Bump, Forest Grove, Ore.
