New Jersey Chapter Honors Guy Nearing

The February 21 meeting of the New Jersey Chapter was a birthday celebration honoring Guy Nearing, who was 83 on January 22, 1973.
The celebration included a "This is your life, Guy Nearing" presentation by Paul Sleezer. Bill Sullivan presented Guy with a plaque expressing the gratitude of the N. J. Chapter for his continuing contributions. Guy's lectures on rhododendron species and their hybrids are a feature of every meeting.
Tom Koenig, representing some members of the New Jersey and Tappan Zee Chapters, presented Guy with a slide projector in appreciation for the many rhododendron slides Guy shares with us during his lectures.
Following refreshments, Guy gave a talk on R. carolinianum and its hybrids.
