Long service toward the advancement of the Genus Rhododendron by two members of the San Mateo Chapter was recognized with the award of the Bronze Medal May 23, 1975, at the last meeting of the season.
Everett E. Farwell, Jr., was recognized for being instrumental in establishing the first California Chapter. He served as first president of the Chapter and has been an active participant in its affairs for 24 years, He started a second chapter, the San Mateo Chapter, again holding the office of president and continuing to guide its growth and development.
Frank Pagliettini, as head gardener at McLaren Dell, Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, has not only provided a continuing service to the public but has shared with all his love and enthusiasm for rhododendron. He has contributed blooms from McLaren Dell to all the Northern California Chapters at show time, adding greatly to the size and success of these shows.
