QBARS - v29n3 Book Review: Rhododendrons; A Selected Annotated Bibliography
Book Review
RHODODENDRONS; A SELECTED ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY, compiled by Mrs. Diane Schwartz, Head Reference Librarian, Library of the New York Botanical Garden, Bronx, New York, 10458. Paperback, 46 p.
Prepared in conjunction with the Rhododendron Exhibit at the New York Botanical Garden, April 2-6, 1975, this bibliography is designed to meet the information needs of the amateur, as well as the professional horticulturist.
The bibliography has been divided into ten subject categories, and in each grouping the books have been separated from the periodical articles. Generally, the articles included do not predate 1959, except for a few included for their historical value. Most of the book entries include a commentary about the contents.
Publications, such as the ARS Quarterly which are devoted entirely to rhododendrons, are listed in an addendum. This makes the bibliography of particular value to readers of the Quarterly since all periodical articles listed are from various publications not specializing in rhododendrons, and consequently, may not have been seen at the time of publication.
A second addendum lists sources of stock and seed.
